Located in the former convent of the La Merced Church, the Chiapas Amber Museum is a place where science, art, and history meet under the golden glow of fossilized resin.

The building itself dates back to 1537 as the first home of the Mercedarian Order in the region. Its history is fascinating and dramatic: over the centuries, it has transformed from a religious convent into a military barracks and even a state prison, before being beautifully restored into the cultural space it is today.
