Its history is fascinating and dramatic: over the centuries, it has transformed from a religious convent into a military barracks and even a state prison, before being beautifully restored into the cultural space it is today.\r\n\r\nThe museum tells a story that began 25 million years ago. Amber, mostly extracted from the mines of Simojovel de Allende, is a window into the prehistoric past.
